3 Wool Thrift Finds to Transition into Fall
OK, OK...as much as I've wanted to delay fall's arrival and bask in an endless homework-free summer, the kids are about to complete week three of school, and I've officially got fall pieces on my thrifting radar. When I think fall, I think wool separates like blazers, skirts, and trousers, and lots and lots of layering. So the pieces I'm looking for need to be versatile and classic.
Though fall weather hasn't fully descended upon us, we can pick up some wool pieces to layer during this transition and style easily into fall. I tend to be drawn toward vintage-inspired looks. The fun for me is in finding clothes that my grandma might've worn, and modernize them by styling with contemporary pieces from my closet.
I recently picked up three new-to-me pieces from Goodwill San Francisco for fall dressing. These are a perfect kick-off to #SecondhandSeptember and my pledge to stick with secondhand shopping this month. Let's go style these pieces!
#1 Tweed Chanel-inspired Jacket
I'm always on the lookout for that elusive classic Chanel tweed jacket. So I was immediately drawn to this J Crew one. I thought the brass button detail and gathering on the back were especially pretty.
I roughed it up a little by pairing it with a graphic tee, juxtaposed against a three chain black and brass necklace I found at a fantastic charity store in NYC. White booties and a thrifted linen black skirt complete this look.

#2 Houndstooth Wool Blazer
How many blazers does one need? I never skip the blazer rack at the thrift shop. It's filled with all sorts of vintage wonder. I look for quality, classic fabrics and tailoring. This houndstooth blazer screamed out to me because of this amazing fabric.
My go-to pairing with blazers is denim. Go for a cropped, torn hem or distressed pair if like me, you haven't yet completely parted with summer. Sneakers give you a more effortless vibe with an otherwise office-worthy blazer.
Blazer: thrifted, Ralph Lauren
Top: Scotch & Soda
Shoes: Tread by Everlane
Denim: J Crew
Counter a more tailored pair of wide-legged denim pants with sandals to keep it casual.

Yeah I did...houndstooth on houndstooth!

Jumpsuit: Ace & Jig

#3 Herringbone Wool Skirt
I always love a good midi a-line skirt. I think they just look right for my proportions, and are versatile to dress up or down. In my quest to transition slowly to summer, I've paired the skirt with a tissue turtleneck and matching white boots, and my favorite hat. Your grandma's skirt, only better.
Get wild and layer the houndstooth over the herringbone!

It's not fall until you have your first Pumpkin Spice Latte. So I'll be avoiding Starbucks until I'm ready for it. Happy thrifting!
